I’ve decided to use this newsletter to cover freight & logistics and the M&A playbook that exists there in Australia today.

Why freight & logistics?

In Australia, it is a $130 Billion market that is extremely fragmented and full of inefficiencies. The blend of fragmentation and inefficiency presents the perfect opportunity for a roll-up strategy.

The problem I have found is that many logistics professionals don’t come from an M&A background, leaving them either unaware of the opportunity that exists or uncertain how to execute an acquisition strategy effectively. That means opportunities for growth are overlooked, and too many owners end up shutting their doors because they can’t find a buyer at retirement.

It is through this newsletter that I hope to address this problem by providing my insights from 6+ years across M&A roles, including 2 years leading the M&A team at Ofload - Australia’s fastest growing logistics company. Each newsletter will focus on one of three key areas: Deal Strategies, How To Do A Deal, and How To Maximise Deal Value.
